History and philosophy
The story of YIT began in 1912 with the merger of four companies. Their common goal was to provide high-quality and comprehensive services in the field of construction. YIT, which has built a very solid reputation in the construction of infrastructure and ensuring the supply of water to most Finnish cities, began to expand rapidly. Gradually, the corporation's business activities expanded worldwide. In the twentieth century, this was mainly the Middle East and the former Soviet Union, or the Russian Federation. At the turn of the millennium, the company expanded into the field of technological infrastructure construction, both in Scandinavia and in the countries of Central Europe.

In 2010, YIT acquired a majority stake in the then 13-year-old Reding a.s. company, thus creating YIT Reding a.s.. YIT Slovakia a.s. as we know it today was established in 2016 after the sale of the remaining stake of YIT.
